Columbia teams won Twenty-Two Tournament or Division Championships in 2013!
Columbia 14-Red and Columbia 14-Black opened the 2014 season by playing in back-to-back CEVA Power League Qualifiers. Both teams were playing in the elite Power League Division I among the best teams in the region. Columbia 14-Black went 4-6 over the two days, while Columbia 14-Red took a little longer to catch fire going 1-8 over the same two days. Both teams remain in the top 35 teams of the 152-team U-14 league, and will be #1 seeds in the Cotender Division for February Power League.
After two weeks of Power League, both teams moved into Evergreen Region play at the TC Kickoff. 14-Red took 2nd in their pool to reach the Championship bracket before finishing 7th and 2-2 for the day. 14-Black swept into the Championship Semifinal undefeated before losing a tough match to the eventual champions 22-25, 28-30 and finished 4-1 for the day.
14-Red scores shortly
Columbia's two U-15 teams have each played twice already this month. Columbia 15-Black opened up with the Spokane Valley Tune Up tournament sweeping thru their pool undefeated before falling to the eventual tournament champions to go 3-1 for the day and finish 3rd overall. The next day, Columbia 15-Red opened their season at the Selah Snowball tournament. The Red girls reached the Consolation Semifinal before finishing 11th (of 16) with a 2-3 record for the day.
Both teams were in action at the Tri-City Kickoff tournament the following week, and both teams suffered tough pool play losses that pushed them into the Consolation bracket where Columbia's two U-15 teams faced each other in the second round. 15-Black emerged with the win, and went on to claim the bracket Championship.
While Columbia 16-Black was fighting their way to the Silver Division Championship match at the Oregon MLK, Columbia 16-Red was making noise of their own by finishing 5th (of 40 teams) in the Tri-City Kickoff. Both our U-16 teams had previously made the Championship Final of their opening tournaments (16-Black at Selah Snowball, and 16-Red at the Spokane Valley Tune Up.) With three Championship Final appearences between them already, it's just a matter of time before both teams are bringing home the Championships.
Columbia 18-Black followed their December undefeated Championship in the Yakima Friendship with an impressive showing in the Oregon MLK. Playing in 18 Open, the Columbia 18's reeled off an impressive 7-2 showing among the elite teams of the Pacific NW. The ladies capped their showing with the Silver Championship and a victory over the CEVA Power League #1 seed.
Columbia 15-Black climbed from their initial seeding at CEVA Power League by winning their first pool, going 3-2 for the day and climbing to #38 overall in the 117 team league. Good work ladies!
Columbia 16-Black qualified for the Gold Division at the opening day of U-16 CEVA Power League by sweeping their pool and winning their first crossover before falling just short of NW Platinum league play. The 16-Black ladies are now seeded 7th in the 117 team league.
Columbia 12-Black swept their pool without dropping a set, and then swept their Championship quarterfinal match as well at the KI-BE Klassic. In their Semifinal, the youngest Columbia team lost a hard fought three set match to take third overall at the 12 team tournament. Good job girls!
